about

Originally titled 'catching ghosts.'

This track has a little story behind its last minute alterations and change of name which obviously takes the form of the final article here.

This will be the last electronic track I upload now for a long time due to logistical limitations and life beckoning me to live over merely existing within these four walls where I have been confined due to health issues and personal disruptions.

Here I wish to give credit where credit is due and also to pull away the curtain behind the process of these compositions.

Every electronic track I have composed in these latter months have all been composed on an Amazon fire kindle tablet using an application software called Caustic. Exporting and importing files can't be done and the version of caustic that allows you to do this is not available for purchase on the app store so I found another way.

Firstly the cover art: All cover art for each song was rendered in Microsoft paint and later altered on photoscape which is free software, also fotor and a website called photomosh for scanlines and noise on the images.

After composing a track on caustic, I later ran each track from start to finish and recorded the tracks via a line in input though my Roland Br800 digital track recorder in real time. From there I was able to bounce the tracks and send them over to my lap top as wav files..

The end of my headphone jack snapped off and lodged itself in my Amazon fire headphone input after I composed this track. The headphone input is the only way to transfer compositions from caustic to the recording device and convert them into wav files to upload on bandcamp...so after many attempts trying to dislodge the pin end of my headphone jack from the tablet, I had to gouge it out using small pins and a pair of scissors. This rendered the headphones useless and the input useless and me with no way to get the song I just composed from the tablet to a wav file to ultimately post up on bandcamp for my small audience consisting mainly of family and friends.

I was able to connect my tablet to a pair of wireless headphones and use a double ended headphone Jack lead from the wireless headphones to the br800 to transfer the track. I monitored the song using a turtle beach x box headset.

This journey was initially to create music I hadn't approached before but it also became a challenge to do it in the cheapest or most free way possible. I wanted to attempt to use substandard techniques and equipment mainly because I was an aspiring singer songwriter not an electronic musician and do not own any of the tools or know how to produce electronic music in a way that would reflect the same kind of quality that I hear from other artists.

I had to extract some of the percussion due to the sound dropping out which still occurs moderately in places throughout this song. I feel that the wireless aspect may have a lot to do with the problem. This has left the track with a very raw and minimalist sound which was not part of the original vision but adds to the flavor of the overall piece.

Although my music is a genuine artistic expression, all tracks are just home recorded demos showcasing what I'm into and what I can do. Enjoy.
